Vi vill nu återge en historia som Suleiman berättade för oss när vi träffades förra gången:
Detta utspelades under tiden han var anställd på vårt hotell. En dag hade han lyckats få ihop så mycket pengar att han hade råd att köpa mat så att familjen kunde äta på kvällen. När maten var uppäten räknade han ut hur mycket pengar han hade kvar. Det visade sig vara omräknat till svensk valuta c:a 5 kr. Bröd till morgondagens frukost för 6 personer skulle kosta c:a 10 kr. Han sa då till sin hustru att i morgon ska jag gå ner till torget och se om jag kan hitta någon snäll torggumma som jag kan köpa för 10 kr bröd av och få tillåtelse att betala 5 kr vid ett senare tillfälle.
På morgonen dagen därpå gick han runt på torget och försökte hitta någon gumma som såg snäll ut som han kunde göra affärer med.
Då dök plötsligt en vän till honom upp och sa: Har du några pengar att låna till mig, för i går hade jag inga pengar så jag kunde inte ge familjen något att äta?
Suleiman tänkte: Den här familjen hade inte något att äta igår medan vi kunde äta oss mätta. Så han gav sina 5 kr till vännen och gick hem utan pengar och utan bröd.
Som slut på berättelsen berättade han att han aldrig fått så mycket dricks på jobbet som den dagen...
This took place while he was employed at our hotel. One day, he had managed to put together so much money that he could afford to buy food so the family could eat in the evening. Once the food was eaten, he counted how much money he had left. It proved to be converted into Swedish currency about 5 swedish crowns . Bread for tomorrow's breakfast for six people would cost about 10 crowns. He then said to his wife "Tomorrow I'll go down to the square and see if I can find some nice lady that would sell bread worth 10 crowns and that could wait for the remaining 5 crowns some time.".
In the morning the next day he walked around the square and tried to find some woman who looked kind as he could do business with.
Then suddenly his friend came up and said: "Do you have any money to lend to me, because yesterday I had no money so I could not give the family anything to eat?"
Suleiman thought: "This family had nothing to eat yesterday while we could eat our food." So he gave his 5 crowns to the friend and went home without money and without bread.
At the end of the story he told us that he never received so much tips at work the next day ...
